The Sewer Raceway is a combat racing track used in the Kras City Grand Championship during Jak X: Combat Racing. Described by G.T. Blitz as having been designed by a "real masochist", what he calls a "racing-rich environment",[1] the track takes place wholly in the expansive Haven sewers below Haven City, and is not exactly conducive to high speeds, particularly turbo boosting. The course mainly encompasses the more recently built metal-structured sections of the sewers and some of the older stone works, which has largely been flooded and gone into a state of disrepair. It is not necessarily one of the most difficult tracks in the game, though it can be deceiving and tricky at first because it has many sharp turns and obstacles at unexpected times.

Descriptions[]

The raceway begins at the center of a somewhat eight-shaped track—a large half-tube with multiple pipelines obstructing the center path. This is one of the few spots where speed can be used safely, as long as one avoids the pipes. At the end of the tube, the course makes a sharp right turn into the hallways of the sewers. [a] Excessive boosting is very likely to result in a crash, as the many turns and bends as well as the slanting paths are a waiting death trap. Furthermore, the water here tends to reduce the effectiveness of power sliding, enough to throw off unsuspecting players. The main strategy one needs to learn for this track is to boost only when the road is straight, and to slide into the corners, then start boosting again when almost finishing the slide so as to immediately take the most out of the slide's momentum.

Proceed through the course and you will eventually emerge at the center area again, except from the opposite this time. Cross the starting line from the other side, make a sharp left turn, and head into the older section of the sewers. [b] The same advice still applies, but this part is otherwise fairly short. Take care not to get bogged down by the water or to hit into any of the portions where the walls or ceiling have collapsed until re-entering the starting area to reach the finish line.

Notes[]

  1. A closed gate is visible on the left. It is accessible in the Waterworks Circuit track.
  2. The same as a is true here too but on the right.
