The Precursor Legacy logo 1

Destroy the balloon lurkers was a mission in The Precursor Legacy that Jak and Daxter completed to obtain a power cell. Daxter made a remark about the mine droppers and Jak decided to eliminate them.

This mission replaced Find the trans-pad in the start menu. Keira told Jak about the trans-pads around the planet and suggested he keep an eye out for them. Once he found the trans-pad at Misty Island, the objective was changed to defeating the balloon lurkers.

The PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of this mission are related to a trophy named "Pop Goes the Lurker". Completing this mission will reward you with a bronze trophy.

Using the A-Grav Zoomer at the fenced-off bay (from the beginning area, head left and follow the path) you will have to tackle five mine droppers. They fly around in a contraption supported by a large balloon above them. Hanging from the front and back are two large mines. Hitting the mines takes away one hit point, though they do not re-spawn, meaning it makes hitting the lurker afterwards easier.

It is advised to avoid speeding around and chasing after the lurkers in an aimless approach: instead, just watch their flight pattern and wait until they have gone back to their lowest position, then steer the zoomer into their side to avoid hitting the mines. When completed the power cell spawns back at the ship, below in the cargo hold. After obtaining the power cell, Keira will congratulate Jak via the communicator for destroying the balloon lurkers.
