NYFE racing is the most popular sport in Haven City where drivers race on advanced Zoomers called NYFE Racers. All of the official championship races take place on the tracks of the Mar Memorial Stadium while the unofficial City Race and Port Race take place on NYFE Racers in sections of Haven City. The NYFE racing tournament consists of three classes: Class Three is the entry level and easiest class; Class Two is the second class; and Class One is the deadly NYFE Championship. A racer must perform well in a class to progress to the next class of races.

Each class consists of 8 racers and takes place on a different track. Turbo boosts are present on all tracks and if collected, provide the rider with a temporary speed boost. The winner of NYFE Championship (Class One) receives a month long supply of Dark Eco and a tour of the Baron's palace.

After the Mar Memorial Stadium was destroyed by the Metal Heads, NYFE was never continued.

Use in the SeriesEdit

Pre-Jak IIEdit

Little is known about the history of NYFE racing prior to Jak II. Erol, the leader of the Baron's Krimzon Guard, is the only other known NYFE racer besides Jak and quickly earned the reputation of being "crazy and dangerous on the track". By the time Daxter finds Jak and busts him out of prison, Erol is considered the "undisputed grand champion".

Jak IIEdit

The crime lord Krew, wanting one of his men inside the NYFE circuit, offered to help Jak impress a mechanic client. Needing the access to the Baron's palace offered as a prize to the winner of the NYFE Championship, Jak accepted and began the process of impressing the mechanic who had reservations about using one of Krew's thugs on her racing team. Just before the start of the Class Three race, Jak and Daxter discovered the mechanic was their friend Keira Hagai who instantly let them join her team. Now backed by a team, Jak and Daxter competed and placed first in the race.

But by the time of the Class Two race, Keira's connections with Erol and Jak's ties to Krew's criminal activity over their two years apart caused a rift between Jak and Keira. Walking out after fighting with Kiera, Jak abandoned the team and left Daxter as the only racer available to represent them. Rising to the challenge, Daxter placed first and qualified their team for the Class One Championship race which brought Jak back to the team.

Jak and Daxter's performance inspired the people of Haven City and Krew, seeing more money in betting against his own racer, asks Jak to throw the tournament in Erol's favor. Needing access to the palace more than ever, Jak outright refuses. Krew threatened Jak's place in his crime syndicate and Erol challenged Jak to the City Race from the port to the stadium using accelerator rings. Accepting the challenge, Jak beat Erol to the stadium and Erol threatens to not only defeat Jak but kill him in the Class One race.

With the big race approaching and the war growing more complex, Keira shows Jak, Daxter, and her father Samos Hagai her secret project: a replica of the Precursor rift rider that brought the four to Haven City two years ago that's missing a few key artifacts. The project brings Jak and Keira back on good terms and Keira tells Jak he's the best driver she's ever seen.

At the Class One race, Baron Praxis himself appeared to introduce the grand prizes of a months supply of eco and a tour of his palace. Jak defeated Erol in the race and pocketed the purple clearance pass before the Baron could identify him. Enraged at losing to Jak, Erol tried to kill him with his NYFE racer but instead collided with the barrels of dark eco and permanently injured Erol who had to be partially rebuilt with Krimzon Bot technology. The Baron ordered his guard to attack Jak and Daxter who escaped the stadium with the pass to the palace and went on to continue fighting in the war.

Pre-Jak3Edit

When the palace fell and the city was broken up by different factions, the Metal Heads took the northern stadium section and destroyed the racing stadium. After the planet's salvation, it's unclear if NYFE racing returned to Haven.
