This page includes the controls for The Precursor Legacy. Originally released on the PlayStation 2 in December 2001, the game was later ported to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in February 2012 and June 2013, respectively, as part of the Jak and Daxter Collection. As such, both the controls for the standard DualShock controller and those for the Vita will be included. Furthermore, the game received official emulation support on the PlayStation 4 in December 2017, though the controls to that of the PlayStation 2 and 3 releases are identical, save for the Select and Start buttons being mapped to the left and right sides of the touch pad, respectively.

Jak[]

Jak is the main character, who you control for the entirety of the gameplay, be it on foot or on board a vehicle, animal or machine.

Roll jump Left analog stick + L1 or L1 + X Left analog stick + Shoulder L or Shoulder R + X From a roll on the ground, perform a launching somersault in the air to reach long distances and/or crash into enemies or breakable objects. Press X when landing to do a high jump immediately after.
Punch / Shoot yellow eco projectile Square Sliding/lunging punch (with yellow eco projectile if channeling).
Spin kick Circle A 360-degree spin kick attack.
Aerial spin kick X + Circle A 360-degree spin kick in the air
Uppercut L1 or L1 + Square, or Square + X Shoulder L or Shoulder R + Square, or Square + X Uppercut from a crouching position, or a sliding punch followed by an uppercut.
Dive attack X + Square Dive fists-first from a jump to execute a top-down attack.
Continuous dive attack X (hold), Square (while in mid-air) After a dive attack Jak will bounce back into the air, at which point another attack can be executed if timed properly.
Submerge Square (hold) Hold to submerge underwater, release to emerge. Use Left analog stick to swim around.
First person/goggle view Triangle Toggle first person view via Jak's goggles to free-view or target yellow eco projectiles.
Use devices Circle Circle may activate or use several devices, like the teleport gate, A-Grav Zoomer, cannon, or flut flut.
Display HUD L2 or R2 Touchpad top-left or Touchpad top-right Displays the HUD on-screen if it is hidden, contains info such as the total and remaining number of hit points, and total collected Precursor orbs, power cells, and scout flies.
Start Start Open the in-game menu.

A-Grav Zoomer[]

The A-Grav Zoomer is a hoverbike that can be driven at select points in the game. It is only found and accessible at trans-pads.

Mount Circle Mount the zoomer (dismount by hovering over a trans-pad).
Steer Left analog stick Control the direction of the zoomer.
Move camera Right analog stick Move the camera around.
Accelerate X (hold) Increase speed.
Brake Square Engage brakes, does not work if channeling either yellow or blue eco.
Shoot yellow eco projectile Square or Circle After driving through a yellow eco vent or cloud, the zoomer can shoot yellow eco until the meter depletes.
Jump L1 or L1 Shoulder L or Shoulder R Perform a small hop. Combine with speed and a ramp to jump higher.
Display HUD L2 or R2 Touchpad top-left or Touchpad top-right Displays the HUD on-screen if it is hidden.
Start Start Open the in-game menu.

Flut flut[]

The flut flut is a large bird that can be mounted and controlled in select areas, only accessible by trans-pad.

Mount Circle Mount the flut flut (dismount by stepping on trans-pad).
Move Left analog stick Move forward and/or control the direction of the flut flut.
Move camera Right analog stick Move the camera around.
Jump X Jump upwards.
Flutter jump X + X Jump, then jump again in mid-air to make the flut flut start flapping its wings. This delays the fall and sends the flut flut into a short glide. Usable with Left analog stick to cross larger distances.
Charge attack / Shoot yellow eco projectile Square A short range head bash attack in a forwards direction, if channeling yellow eco it also shoots a yellow eco projectile.
Smash attack X + Square After jumping the flut flut will smash downwards at a small angle with its talons, dealing damage to anything it hits or in close proximity to it.
Display HUD L2 or R2 Touchpad top-left or Touchpad top-right Displays the HUD on-screen if it is hidden.

Cannon[]

The cannon is a fixed turret which only appears at Sentinel Beach and Misty Island.

Exit Triangle Exit the cannon.
Aim Left analog stick Move the cannon's reticle.
Launch bomb X or Circle Fires an explosive cloth sack tied together with a fuse at the end, hold down to charge and fire farther away.
