Combat Bugs are Bugs featured in a small event known as Bug Combat (only practiced in Daxter). *There's a lot of different Bugs, and most of them can be found in Bug Cages around Haven City. You can use special Battle Tokens to give your Bugs perks or special abilities when in battle. There's also Bug Juice Vials scattered around the city which can be used to increase certain stats.
