Artifact Race is an event type in Combat Racing. This type of event always takes place on arena race tracks, racers must gather a specific amount of Precursor artifacts before the timer runs out. Said timer is limited to four or five minutes and the collectible amount can vary between 10 or 25. The five minutes, 25 score limit version only appears on the Atoll Arena in exhibition mode. An artifact will be indicated with an arrow (yellow for 1-point artifacts, red for 2 pointers, the latter only appear in matches with a 25 score limit) and if in view can be found by locating the pillar of light. If the time is up but players haven't collected all necessary artifacts yet, the gold medal will go to the player with the highest score.

Be careful of other racers who will also collect artifacts and sometimes pose a threat to you. A fast car with good control is recommended, be wary of small bumpy tracks which can cost a lot of time. Try to work as efficient as possible, don't go off for the artifacts if they're both very far away and other racers are closer, concentrate on getting a decent weapon or some extra boosts in the meantime.
